There has been a lot of activity in the mergers and acquisitions arena of the workers’ compensation industry lately. Numerous big companies have been swallowed up by bigger companies, forming new, even bigger entities. But this last weekend saw a merger of a more personal nature; a wedding that may have formed in heaven, but was assembled here in workers’ comp.

I wish to take a moment to congratulate my friends Kimberly George and Mark Walls, who tied the knot this weekend in a small private ceremony. They are now officially Kimberly George and her husband.

Mark Walls is the VP for Communications & Strategic Analysis at Safety National as well as the founder of the very successful Work Comp Analysis Group on LinkedIn. Kimberly George is a Senior Healthcare Advisor at Sedgwick who is now responsible for the company’s corporate development and global mergers and acquisition strategy. Both are hosts of the webinar series, “Out Front Ideas with Kimberly and Mark.”

There was no word on whether this marriage was a part of any global mergers and acquisition strategy. They certainly do comprise what would be known as a power couple for our industry.

While their relationship started as a professional one, they have been a couple for a number of years. Many people were aware of it, but there may be a few out there this morning surprised to hear the news.

In all seriousness, I, and an entire industry, wish them well. It is said that happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have. By that standard, this is a couple destined for a long and happy life. Congratulations, Mark and Kimberly. An entire industry wishes you well.
